This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Los Angeles International Airport Station in degrees Fahrenheit on 25 Aug '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=klax This market will resolve off of the Hourly Data provided using the "Show Hourly Data" button. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to US Units w/ kts" button until the relevant table displays °F. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**A persistent dome of high pressure over the interior Southwest is driving a prolonged Southern California heat wave, with downtown Los Angeles and inland valleys forecast to reach 95–102°F or higher on August 25, 2026.** However, the Polymarket focuses on the official high at a representative station (most likely Los Angeles International Airport or a comparable coastal site), where marine-layer influence and southwest onshore flow are keeping temperatures substantially lower. National Weather Service guidance for LAX shows a high near 83°F under mostly sunny skies after morning low clouds, consistent with recent hourly observations rising from the low 70s overnight toward the low-to-mid 80s by afternoon. This coastal moderation—driven by sea-surface temperatures and prevailing winds—explains why the market-implied probability concentrates on 82–85°F (combined ~78%). Stronger heating farther inland has limited spillover to the coast so far, while model consensus and ongoing heat-advisory criteria support only modest afternoon warming at the key measurement point. Traders are therefore pricing in the current NWS and ensemble guidance, with limited room for upside unless a late shift in wind patterns or reduced marine influence materializes before peak heating.
