Current forecasts for San Francisco indicate a deepening marine layer and short-wave trough influence through early September, promoting stronger onshore flow and reduced radiative cooling overnight. This setup favors lows near or slightly below the historical 56°F average for September 1, with National Weather Service guidance pointing to upper-50s readings amid 2,000-foot stratus and a cooler 850 mb airmass. Trader consensus remains split across bins because model spreads on marine layer depth and any late clearing could push the minimum into the low 50s or briefly higher, while the 49°F-or-below and 68°F-or-higher outcomes reflect tail risks from unusually strong onshore winds versus suppressed stratus. Updated model runs and NHC-adjacent marine forecasts over the next 48 hours will likely tighten these probabilities ahead of resolution.
