General elections are scheduled to be held in Malta on May 30, 2026. This market will resolve to the individual who is formally appointed as Prime Minister of Malta following the 2026 Maltese general election. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed as Prime Minister of Malta following the 2026 Maltese general election. Any interim or caretaker head of government will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister is appointed by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Malta; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Robert Abela maintains a dominant position as Malta's incumbent prime minister and Labour Party leader, reflecting sustained party support and limited organized challenges from within his coalition. The Nationalist opposition under Alex Borg has shown modest polling gains but lacks the momentum to close the gap ahead of the next general election. Minor independent or smaller-party contenders register negligible backing, underscoring the two-party structure that typically channels voter preferences. Historical patterns of incumbent re-election in Malta further reinforce trader assessments of continuity. Shifts remain possible through an abrupt Labour leadership transition, a sharp economic reversal, or a coordinated opposition campaign that narrows the margin in the final stretch.
