This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Prime Minister of Romania by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Romania's ongoing political deadlock following the May 2026 no-confidence vote that removed Ilie Bolojan's pro-EU coalition has positioned Alexandru Nazare as the leading contender for prime minister. As finance minister with direct involvement in budget management and EU fund access, Nazare benefits from trader emphasis on his alignment with fiscal stability and reform priorities amid currency pressures and stalled policymaking. Sorin Grindeanu trails due to the Social Democrats' status as parliament's largest party and its pivotal role in assembling any viable majority, though PSD's earlier alliance with opposition forces contributed to the crisis. Subsequent presidential nominations, including technocratic and PNL figures in June that failed to secure parliamentary support, have prolonged uncertainty and elevated candidates with cross-party viability. Upcoming consultations and coalition negotiations remain key variables that could shift probabilities before resolution.
