This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Prime Minister of Romania by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Romania's ongoing parliamentary deadlock since the May 2026 no-confidence vote against Ilie Bolojan's coalition has left no party with a clear majority, sustaining tight odds among leading contenders.** President Nicușor Dan's latest nominee, PNL MEP Siegfried Mureșan, backed by PNL, USR, and UDMR, has ten days from mid-September to assemble a cabinet and win a confidence vote, following failed attempts with Eugen Tomac and Adrian Veștea. PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu remains the main alternative, with his party rejecting any cabinet it does not lead, while cross-party talks have stalled over program commitments, reforms, and EU funds. Alexandru Nazare draws support as another centrist option amid the fragmentation. Traders price the impasse near evenly because any nominee needs ad-hoc backing from rivals or independents to reach the required threshold, with the risk of snap elections—last called unlikely but now on the table—if another proposal fails before the October ratings review. Recent consultations show persistent divides between pro-European groups and larger PSD-AUR blocs, keeping separation dependent on last-minute parliamentary arithmetic.
