Recent supply recovery from highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreaks has driven sharp declines in egg prices through 2026, with USDA data showing retail averages near $2.19 per dozen in July and $2.14 in June amid rising layer inventories and production rebounds. Wholesale benchmarks have fallen below $1 in spots, reflecting ample supply that tempers retail levels despite some lag in grocery pricing. Trader sentiment clusters around the $2.10–$2.40 bands because seasonal demand, feed cost stability, and any late-summer HPAI detections could shift the August average within that narrow range, while broader disinflation and output gains cap upside risks.
