At its late-April national congress, the party approved a manifesto explicitly centering Lula's candidacy, with PT president Edinho Silva committing resources to build a broad alliance and prioritizing his ticket over certain state races. Lula's March confirmation of Vice President Geraldo Alckmin as running mate further signaled internal alignment, while recent polling shows him competitive against opponents such as Flávio Bolsonaro. These developments position the nomination as a procedural step ahead of the Superior Electoral Court filing window, with party leaders describing it as a formality absent major health or internal disruptions.
