President Trump's May 11 Fox News interview, where he signaled consideration of reviving Project Freedom—potentially as an expanded "Project Freedom Plus" within a broader military operation—dominates trader focus amid fragile US-Iran ceasefire talks over the Strait of Hormuz. Launched May 4 to escort merchant ships past Iranian disruptions but paused after 36 hours due to attacks and initial regional hesitancy, the initiative regained momentum May 7 when Saudi Arabia and Kuwait lifted restrictions on US base access and airspace. Stalled diplomacy, Iran's rejection of a US proposal, and persistent shipping blockades keep escalation risks high, with upcoming negotiations or Iranian responses likely to sway restart decisions before key deadlines.
