Latest National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance for New York City points to an overnight low near 70°F on September 18, driven by a mild southerly flow advecting warmer air ahead of a weak frontal passage and limited radiational cooling under partly cloudy skies with dew points in the mid-60s. This aligns with the market’s leading 70-71°F outcome at 48.5% implied probability, while 68-69°F and 72-73°F brackets capture residual spread across model runs. Recent observations show Central Park lows holding in the upper 50s to low 70s amid above-normal September warmth, with no strong cold-air intrusion expected before the date. Traders appear to weigh the narrow forecast range against typical historical variability for mid-September, when average lows sit near 61°F. Updated model cycles and any shift in steering winds remain the key near-term catalysts.
