Recent July consumer price data easing to 0.5% year-on-year, below consensus forecasts, underscores soft domestic demand and subdued food prices amid ample supply, anchoring trader focus on the 0.5–0.8% range for August. Core measures held near 0.9% while non-food components moderated after fuel-price adjustments and cooling global energy pressures. Persistent weakness in retail sales and consumer spending continues to limit upward momentum, while export resilience and any targeted policy measures could provide modest support. The tight spread between leading buckets reflects uncertainty over seasonal patterns, commodity fluctuations, and incoming August indicators such as PMI readings and retail figures, which could shift probabilities if demand shows clearer signs of stabilization or renewed softness.
