Incumbent Ann Kao maintains a dominant position in the Hsinchu City mayoral race ahead of the November 28, 2026 local elections, reflecting trader consensus on her strong re-election prospects as an independent. Kao, who won the seat in 2022 on the Taiwan People’s Party ticket, was reinstated in December 2025 after a High Court acquittal on corruption charges that had led to her suspension and exit from the party. The Democratic Progressive Party’s April 2026 nomination of Chuang Ching-cheng as its challenger has not shifted the market notably, while the Kuomintang’s decision not to field a candidate has limited opposition. These factors, combined with Kao’s incumbency advantage and cleared legal status, underpin the current pricing, with minor probabilities attached to other named contenders. Scheduled election timing and any late campaign developments remain key variables.
