Wang Chung-ming, the Kuomintang incumbent magistrate of Lienchiang County (Matsu Islands), holds an overwhelming lead in trader pricing at 86% for the 2026 local election. Nominated by the KMT party center in June 2026 for a second term, he faces a rematch against independent challenger Tsao Erh-yuan, who previously captured around 42% in 2022. The absence of a Democratic Progressive Party nominee and the county’s strong historical KMT alignment limit credible opposition, keeping other listed candidates at minimal implied probabilities. This positioning reflects the structural advantages of incumbency, party endorsement, and local voting patterns in Taiwan’s smallest municipality ahead of the November vote.
