Forecasts from the National Weather Service and multiple models indicate a low in the mid- to upper 70s°F for Austin on September 4, 2026, above the 1991–2020 climatological average of 70.9°F. Persistent southerly flow, elevated dew points near 70°F, and limited overnight radiational cooling under partly cloudy skies with a slight thunderstorm chance are maintaining the warmth. No strong cold front or clear, dry air mass is expected to arrive in time to drop temperatures into the low 70s or below. Market-implied odds reflect this uncertainty, with traders assigning meaningful probability to both sub-70°F outcomes (possible if models trend cooler) and extremes above 88°F (if heat advection strengthens), while clustering around the 74–83°F range consistent with current guidance. Updated model runs and NWS briefings over the next 48 hours will refine the exact minimum.
