The Polymarket-implied consensus of 92.6% on an 85–90 cumulative flu hospitalization rate per 100,000 population for week 19 reflects the latest CDC FluSurv-NET data, showing 86.0 overall as of week 17 (ending May 2), the third highest since the 2010–2011 season amid a moderate-to-high severity 2025–2026 campaign dominated by A(H3N2). Weekly rates have plummeted to 0.2 per 100,000 in week 17 from peaks above 12, with outpatient ILINet activity at 1.8%—stable and below baseline for seven weeks—signaling the season's end. Traders anticipate minimal additions (0.3–0.5 per week) given low national surveillance. Challenges could arise from reporting lags, preliminary data revisions upward, or an unforeseen late-season spike in cases among vulnerable groups like children or seniors, though FluView week 18 updates (due soon) are unlikely to shift this substantially.
