**Official National Weather Service forecasts for Chicago on September 20, 2026, call for a daytime high near 68°F under persistent cloud cover, widespread showers, and breezy northeast winds of 15–20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.** These conditions limit solar heating and advect cooler air from the Great Lakes region, keeping temperatures well below the late-September climatological average of roughly 74°F. Model consensus and recent observations reinforce this cool, stable regime, positioning the 68–69°F bin as the modal outcome in trader pricing while assigning meaningful but secondary probability to 70–71°F if breaks in the clouds allow modest additional warming. Higher bins remain low-probability given the entrenched onshore flow and precipitation, and resolution will hinge on the official daily maximum reported by Chicago-area observing stations.
