This market will resolve to "Yes" if OpenAI's next GPT Image model (2.1+) is made available to the general public between market creation and the specified date (ET). Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". A qualifying model must have a name or model identifier that includes "GPT Image" and be designated as version 2.1 or higher, regardless of capitalization, hyphenation, spacing, or surrounding prefixes, suffixes, dates, or descriptors. For example, a version 2.1 or higher named in the same manner as GPT Image 1.5 or GPT Image 2 would qualify, including a new whole-number generation such as GPT Image 3, while models whose name does not include "GPT Image" or which retain a version designation of 2 or below, such as GPT Image 2, GPT Image 2 mini, or DALL-E 3, will not qualify. Size, speed, or cost variants of any existing version, such as mini or turbo variants, and application or product version launches without a new qualifying underlying model, such as a "ChatGPT Images 3.0" product update, will not qualify. A qualifying model must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must either be clearly defined and publicly announced by OpenAI as accessible to the general public, or otherwise be made publicly accessible and explicitly labeled on the company's official website. Labeling errors, placeholder text, or version names displayed on the website that do not correspond to a model that is actually accessible to the general public will not qualify. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from OpenAI, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.OpenAI’s April 21, 2026 launch of ChatGPT Images 2.0, powered by the new gpt-image-2 model, established the current baseline with native reasoning, improved text rendering, 2K resolution, and better multi-image consistency, following the December 2025 gpt-image-1.5 update. Trader focus on a 2.1+ release now centers on whether OpenAI accelerates iteration amid competition from models like Google’s Nano Banana Pro and pressure to deprecate remaining DALL·E versions. No official 2.1 timeline has been confirmed as of mid-August 2026, though historical eight-month gaps between major image updates and ongoing GPT-5.x/6 development suggest potential movement before year-end if competitive or internal benchmarks demand it. Market-implied odds reflect caution around typical model slip risks and the absence of recent official signals.
