This market will resolve according to the candidate who wins the nomination for the Democratic Party to contest the NJ-07 congressional district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections. The Democratic primary will take place on June 2, 2026. If no nominee is announced by November 3, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source for this market will be a consensus of official Democrat sources, including https://democrats.org/. Any replacement of the nominee before election day will not change the resolution of the market.Rebecca Bennett holds a commanding position in the New Jersey 7th District Democratic primary, driven by endorsements from four of the six county Democratic parties and a fundraising edge that has delivered more than $2.6 million without self-funding or corporate PAC support. Her background as a former Navy helicopter pilot and healthcare executive has resonated with party organizations ahead of the June 2 primary. Brian Varela, endorsed by the remaining two counties and relying heavily on personal loans, and physician Tina Shah, who has also self-funded significantly, continue to compete but trail in organizational backing and donor momentum. Michael Roth rounds out the field with limited recent visibility. The June 2 vote will determine the nominee to challenge Republican incumbent Tom Kean Jr. in the general election.
