This market will resolve according to the candidate who wins the nomination for the Democratic Party to contest the NY-04 congressional district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections. The Democratic primary will take place on June 23, 2026. If no nominee is announced by November 3, 2026, 11:59PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source for this market will be a consensus of official Democrat sources, including https://democrats.org/. Any replacement of the nominee before election day will not change the resolution of the market.Incumbent Laura Gillen maintains a commanding lead in the June 23, 2026 Democratic primary for New York’s 4th congressional district, reflecting her substantial fundraising advantage and party establishment backing after crossing party lines in January 2026 on Department of Homeland Security funding that included Immigration and Customs Enforcement appropriations. That vote prompted challenges from former state Assembly member Taylor Darling and lesser-known candidates Nicholas Sciretta and Gian Jones, who positioned themselves as more progressive alternatives on immigration issues. Gillen’s edge stems from over $2 million in receipts and $1.5 million cash on hand compared with each rival’s under $30,000, plus an endorsement from Nassau County Democratic leader Jay Jacobs. With no public polls available and a closed primary favoring low-turnout incumbents, the divided challenger field has reinforced trader consensus around her structural advantages ahead of primary day.
