Persistent rain and extensive cloud cover from a slow-moving system with southeast winds are suppressing daytime heating across New York City on September 20, positioning the daily high near 69–70 °F according to National Weather Service guidance and multiple forecast models. These conditions, which include a 80–100 % chance of precipitation and gusty flow, limit solar insolation and keep readings below the 1991–2020 climatological average high of 74.8 °F. Market-implied odds favor the 70–71 °F bin at 51.5 % because recent model runs converge on that narrow range, while lower bins capture residual uncertainty from timing of heaviest rain and minor model spread. Traders are monitoring afternoon observations and any late-day clearing that could allow a brief spike into the low 70s.
