Recent National Weather Service forecasts point to a high of 70-75°F in San Francisco on August 26, driven by a persistent shallow marine layer (roughly 1,000 feet deep) that maintains onshore westerly flow and stratus, limiting daytime heating along the coast. This pattern, reinforced by troughing to the north and modest ridging influence, keeps temperatures near or slightly below the 69.6°F climatological average while interior valleys warm more. Model consensus from GFS and ECMWF shows minimal deviation expected overnight, with any thinning of the layer potentially allowing brief afternoon rises into the mid-70s but unlikely to exceed 80°F given current atmospheric stability and wind speeds of 5-15 mph.
