Persistent high pressure and a strong late-summer heat dome centered over the southern Plains have maintained elevated overnight temperatures across central Texas, with official NWS guidance showing lows of 76–78°F for Austin on September 2 under partly cloudy skies and light southerly flow. These conditions suppress radiational cooling while limiting moisture return that could otherwise moderate readings. Market-implied odds reflect this consensus, with 76–77°F and sub-70°F bins both near 50% amid minor model spread on cloud timing and boundary-layer mixing; higher bins above 82°F carry sharply lower probabilities consistent with the absence of any cooling front or tropical moisture in the short-term forecast. Historical September 2 averages near 71°F highlight how the current anomaly keeps the distribution centered in the mid-to-upper 70s.
