Israeli forces have conducted ground operations and targeted strikes against Hezbollah infrastructure primarily within a designated security zone in southern Lebanon since the June 2026 U.S.-brokered framework agreement, while maintaining a ceasefire that limits broader advances. Recent incidents, including roadside explosives injuring IDF personnel and subsequent retaliatory strikes on observation posts and tunnels near areas like Ali al-Taher Ridge, have remained confined south of the Litani River without northward expansion. Diplomatic channels, including technical talks in Rome and discussions in Paris on Lebanese army deployment and post-UNIFIL arrangements, continue amid ongoing violations and Hezbollah rejection of disarmament terms. Airstrikes have occasionally hit Beirut suburbs such as Dahiyeh, but no ground incursions into the capital municipality have occurred. Trader consensus reflects these geographic and diplomatic constraints, with escalation to Beirut requiring a significant shift in military objectives or breakdown of de-escalation efforts.
