Recent developments include May 2026 Senate Appropriations Committee questioning on allegations of excessive drinking and unexplained absences, a July 2026 White House summons reportedly tied to concerns about behavior and travel during periods of heightened security focus, and earlier reports of internal worries about judgment that prompted defensive statements from Patel denying any intent to resign. These factors, alongside lawsuits from dismissed agents and questions about operational priorities, have shaped trader views reflected in low implied probabilities for near-term departure on related prediction markets. No formal removal process or confirmation of exit has advanced, though the position remains subject to presidential discretion and Senate oversight dynamics.
