Lula maintains a commanding position in Alagoas trader consensus for first place in the October 4, 2026 first round, reflecting his established strength in Brazil’s Northeast among lower-income, Catholic, and older voters. National polling from Datafolha, Quaest, and Nexus shows him leading first-round scenarios at 40-42%, well ahead of Flávio Bolsonaro at 32-35%, with Ronaldo Caiado, Romeu Zema, Renan Santos, and Augusto Cury trailing in single digits. Lula’s renomination alongside Geraldo Alckmin and regional party infrastructure reinforce this edge, while Flávio Bolsonaro’s selection of Alagoas-based running mate Alfredo Gaspar offers limited counterweight. Minor candidates face structural barriers to statewide plurality. Upcoming debates and final campaign shifts remain the main variables before voting.
