**Forecast uncertainty from shifting model consensus on overnight cooling drives the tight spread in trader odds for Wellington's September 6 minimum temperature.** Early spring conditions feature variable northwest winds and an approaching frontal system that could bring cloud cover and light rain, limiting radiative cooling and keeping lows near 11–13 °C according to the latest runs from agencies like MetService and international models. Stronger winds promote mixing that raises minimums, while clearer spells allow greater heat loss; historical September averages hover around 8–10 °C but recent patterns favor milder air advection. Traders weigh the 34.5 % odds on sub-8 °C or 18 °C-plus extremes against mid-range probabilities near 25 %, reflecting genuine divergence in short-range ensemble guidance ahead of the next forecast update.
