Incumbent Republican Bill Huizenga faces Democrat Sean McCann in Michigan’s 4th congressional district, a southwestern Michigan seat with an R+3 partisan lean that Huizenga carried by roughly five points in 2024. Both candidates secured their nominations comfortably in the August 4 primaries, clearing the field for a general-election matchup rated Lean Republican by most forecasters yet viewed by traders as a near toss-up. The district’s mix of suburban, rural, and university-influenced areas in Kalamazoo and Ottawa counties, combined with competitive fundraising and early polling showing single-digit or tied margins, keeps the race tight. National midterm dynamics, voter turnout in battleground pockets, and any late-cycle shifts in economic or candidate-specific messaging could widen the gap before November 3.
