Paul St-Pierre Plamondon leads trader consensus for Quebec's October 2026 general election because recent polling consistently places the Parti Québécois ahead or tied for first, with the party holding a narrow edge over the Liberals in April surveys from Léger and others. The PQ's focus on sovereignty and provincial identity has sustained support despite ongoing debates about referendum timing, while new Liberal leader Charles Milliard has narrowed gaps but faces challenges rebuilding after recent leadership instability. Christine Fréchette, sworn in as interim premier after winning the Coalition Avenir Québec leadership race in April following François Legault's January resignation, has yet to reverse the governing party's sharp decline in voter intentions. Éric Duhaime and other minor-party figures trail with limited momentum in the fragmented field ahead of the fixed election date.
