This market will resolve according to the individual who leads the next White House press briefing following the creation of this market. Resolution is based on who actually delivers the briefing from the podium, not on who is listed or announced in advance. If the individual scheduled or announced to give a briefing does not ultimately lead it, this market will resolve to the individual who does. An individual who appears at a qualifying briefing only as a guest, or who speaks only after being introduced by the individual leading the briefing, will not qualify. For the purposes of this market, a White House press briefing is an event listed on the public White House schedule as a press briefing. Any such briefing will qualify, even if the individual leading it has not been formally announced as the Press Secretary or as an acting or interim Press Secretary. "New Media" briefings and special briefings including additional guests will qualify, so long as the individual leads the briefing. Impromptu press gaggles, and remarks that are not listed on the public schedule as a press briefing, will not qualify. If two or more individuals jointly lead the next qualifying briefing, this market will resolve to the individual who speaks first. If no qualifying White House press briefing occurs by September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on footage of the briefing, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. The vacancy in the White House press secretary role since Karoline Leavitt’s departure on August 27 has left the briefing schedule dependent on interim assignments by senior officials rather than a fixed successor. Trader pricing reflects this uncertainty, with numerous names clustered near even odds and a narrower group including JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Stephen Miller, Scott Bessent, and Anna Kelly holding the clearest implied probabilities. Vance’s September 3 briefing—the first in more than 40 days—lifted his shares, while past appearances by Rubio and Bessent and speculation around deputy-level figures such as Kelly and Margo Martin sustain interest in those options. No announcement of a permanent replacement has occurred, and the president’s travel schedule plus the absence of a scheduled daily briefing keep multiple paths open for the next podium appearance.
