**Trader consensus on the Banco de la República’s September 30 policy decision heavily favors holding the benchmark rate steady at its current 12% level.** Recent July inflation data showing a modest deceleration to 6.03% year-over-year from 6.14% in June, combined with the board’s July 31 decision to pause after the June tightening, supports expectations that restrictive policy remains appropriate to anchor expectations amid still-elevated price pressures. The July Monetary Policy Report highlighted persistent drivers including higher labor costs and robust consumption, with staff projecting inflation to peak before converging toward the 3% target by late 2027. Market-implied odds reflect this data-driven pause to assess transmission effects ahead of the September meeting, while the low probabilities attached to rate hikes or cuts underscore the absence of immediate signals for policy reversal or further aggressive adjustment.
