Recent flock rebuilding following the 2025 avian influenza outbreak has boosted U.S. egg production and eased supply constraints, driving retail prices for Grade A large eggs to $2.189 per dozen in July 2026 per BLS data, down sharply from 2025 peaks above $6. Wholesale prices have fallen even further to around $0.62, reflecting oversupply amid softer demand. USDA projections anticipate a roughly 31% annual decline in egg prices for 2026 as laying hen inventories expand, though ongoing HPAI risks and feed costs could introduce volatility. With the August 2026 retail figure set to be reported in September, Polymarket's closely contested odds around the $2.10–$2.40 bands capture trader consensus on these supply dynamics and seasonal stability, underscoring uncertainty over any late-month shifts in production or consumption.
