Traders assign the highest market-implied odds of 57.8% to Eurozone HICP inflation averaging above 3.1% for 2026, driven primarily by the sharp energy price surge stemming from the Middle East conflict that lifted the April 2026 flash reading to 3.0% from 2.6% in March. The ECB’s latest Survey of Professional Forecasters revised its 2026 headline projection upward to 2.7%, citing persistent energy cost pass-through and modest second-round wage pressures, while core inflation held near 2.2%. Weaker Q1 GDP growth of just 0.1% has tempered expectations for aggressive ECB easing, supporting the elevated probability of outcomes above 2.8%. With full April data due May 20 and the next ECB policy meeting ahead, these factors continue to anchor trader consensus on a higher inflation path for the year.
