Latvia's October 2026 parliamentary election remains tightly contested in a fragmented multi-party system, where no party commands a clear lead and post-election coalition negotiations typically determine the government. Recent polling averages show Latvia First (LPV) edging ahead with populist and opposition support, followed closely by the incumbent New Unity (JV) party of Prime Minister Evika Siliņa, which has seen modest declines amid coalition fatigue while retaining backing through its pro-EU stance. The Progressives (PRO) and National Alliance (NA) hold steady shares among progressive and nationalist voters respectively, with several smaller parties clustered near the five-percent Saeima threshold. This positioning stems from high voter indecision, shifting alliances, and the absence of decisive economic or foreign-policy catalysts, leaving room for upcoming surveys, pre-electoral pacts, or campaign developments to widen gaps among the leading contenders.
