Republican incumbent Rudy Yakym holds a commanding position in Indiana’s 2nd congressional district ahead of the November 2026 general election, reflecting the seat’s consistent Republican performance and R+13 partisan voting index. Yakym advanced unopposed in the May primary while Democrat Jamee Decio emerged from a low-turnout contest; forecasters rate the race Safe or Solid Republican based on the district’s rural and suburban composition, which outweighs more competitive pockets near South Bend. Recent cycles show Republican margins exceeding 20 points, limiting Democratic infrastructure and fundraising reach. A late scandal, major national Democratic wave, or unexpected turnout surge in urban areas could narrow the gap, though no such developments have materialized. Trader consensus prices these structural advantages heavily into the outcome.
