Recent National Weather Service and model consensus points to a high near 100°F for Austin on September 21, driven by a persistent heat dome with strong subsidence, mostly clear skies, and light southerly flow that maximizes daytime heating. This setup follows several days of 97–102°F readings, keeping temperatures well above the late-September climatological average of ~90°F. Light winds and limited moisture limit cloud development or cooling, though minor variations in afternoon cloud cover or exact steering could shift the peak by a degree or two. Market-implied odds cluster tightly around 96–99°F because traders weigh the strong consensus for upper-90s readings against the small but real chance of reaching 100°F under ideal conditions.
