Recent National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance for New York City on August 31 points to a high near 80–81°F under partly sunny skies with light northwest flow and only a 20% chance of showers, anchoring the market’s leading 32% probability on that bin. Cooler morning temperatures near 72°F and modest afternoon mixing limit peak heating, while variable cloud cover and any scattered convection introduce the spread seen across 78–83°F outcomes. Historical late-August climatology in Central Park shows similar regimes often peaking in the upper 70s to low 80s, yet small shifts in timing of moisture or wind direction could push readings into the 82–85°F range or hold them near 78°F. Updated model runs and NHC-adjacent short-range forecasts over the next 48 hours remain the key catalysts for further market movement.
