Yu Shu-chen leads the Hualien County Magistrate race with an implied probability of 79 percent as the Kuomintang nominee, selected in March 2026 after an internal party poll that favored her two decades of township-level experience. This party backing consolidates support in a county with a strong KMT base, limiting traction for other contenders. Wei Chia-hsien registers at 17 percent as an announced independent, while Chang Chun sits at 5 percent amid earlier internal nomination interest. Lower-priced options, including Yeh Yao-hui at 0.1 percent, reflect fragmented or unsuccessful challenges. Minor recent scrutiny over campaign materials has not altered the consensus positioning ahead of the November 28 vote.
