Wu Hsiu-hua, the Kuomintang nominee and Taitung County Council speaker, maintains an 86% implied probability in the November 28, 2026, magistrate election, reflecting the party's early nomination to replace term-limited incumbent Yao Ching-ling and Taitung's established KMT electoral base. The contest narrowed to a two-candidate race after potential rival Liu Chao-hao withdrew in early August 2026, prompting former President Tsai Ing-wen to chair Democratic Progressive Party candidate Chen Ying's campaign. This development has consolidated opposition support but left Chen Ying at 15% amid limited polling visibility for other contenders. Traders assign negligible odds to Li Wu Ying-chih and additional listed candidates due to structural party advantages and the three-month campaign window, though turnout shifts or late developments could still influence resolution.
