Recent National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model runs position a daily high near 92–94°F for Chicago on September 2, driven by persistent southerly flow and a lingering heat dome advecting warm, humid air from the southern Plains. Mostly sunny skies with southwest winds gusting to 25 mph should support peak temperatures in the low-to-mid 90s, well above the early-September climatological average of ~80°F. Trader consensus reflected in the 42% implied probability for 92–93°F and 30% for 94–95°F aligns with this guidance, while lower odds on 96°F+ outcomes account for modest forecast uncertainty from potential afternoon mixing or minor timing shifts in the frontal passage expected later in the week. Updated model runs and NWS briefings remain the key near-term catalysts.
