Recent National Weather Service and model guidance points to a high near 89–91°F in Chicago on August 31, driven by persistent southwest flow advecting warmer air amid mostly cloudy skies and only slight shower chances. This aligns closely with the market's tight clustering on the 88–91°F bins, where minor differences in cloud cover, wind speeds of 10–15 mph, or boundary-layer mixing could shift the peak by a degree or two. Historical August normals near 81°F provide context for the elevated reading, while ensemble spread and potential for convective cooling introduce remaining uncertainty ahead of final verification.
