Recent National Weather Service forecasts indicate a cooling trend for Los Angeles on August 31 driven by an incoming trough that will replace the prior high-pressure system and tropical moisture with drier southwest flow, producing partly cloudy mornings turning sunny with highs from the mid-70s at the beaches to the mid-80s inland. This aligns with the market-implied 78–79 °F outcome as the consensus favorite, reflecting typical late-August marine moderation after a brief heat wave that kept recent daily highs 5–10 °F above normal. Model agreement on this pattern, combined with the historical average high near 77 °F and low precipitation odds, supports the current trader positioning while allowing for minor upward shifts if onshore flow weakens. Updated NWS briefings and next model runs remain the key near-term catalysts.
