This market will resolve to "Yes" if there have been the specified amount or more confirmed cases of Measles (Rubeola) in humans in the territory of the United States of America in 2026, according to the CDC case counter by May 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter 'Total Cases' in 2026 (see: https://www.cdc.gov/measles/data-research/index.html) at the resolution time. If the counter becomes unavailable, another credible source will be used. Note: Only cases reported by the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter will qualify, regardless of reports from U.S. State agencies or other sources. As of early May 2026, the CDC has confirmed 1,842 measles cases nationwide, with 93% tied to ongoing outbreaks and nearly all occurring among unvaccinated or unknown-status individuals. Primary drivers include persistent clusters in Utah and residual spread from the now-resolved South Carolina outbreak, alongside imported cases seeding new chains in additional states. Measles’ high basic reproduction number of 12–18 enables rapid transmission through airborne droplets, with a 7–14 day incubation period complicating timely containment. Weekly CDC surveillance updates and state-level reporting through late May will directly influence final tallies before the May 31 cutoff, as summer travel patterns begin elevating importation risks from regions with active global circulation.
