Sam Altman’s public support for pacing frontier AI development, including his September 12 agreement with Dario Amodei’s essay and commitment to independent evaluators with employee-like access, has not extended to signing the July 2026 employee statement itself. That document, endorsed by over 1,300 verified staff across OpenAI, Anthropic, and peers but notably excluding top executives like Altman, focuses on requesting U.S. government-backed international coordination tools. With the September 30 deadline approaching, traders see little incentive for Altman to add his name, given OpenAI’s emphasis on voluntary lab actions and his history of avoiding formal slowdown petitions. A last-minute signature remains possible if competitive or regulatory pressures shift sharply, though current sentiment views that outcome as improbable.

A qualifying listing must identify Sam Altman by name together with his role at OpenAI, or otherwise make clear that the signatory is the CEO of OpenAI. Once Sam Altman is listed or confirms signing, this market will resolve to "Yes" regardless of whether his name is later removed or the statement is later amended.
The primary resolution source for this market will be the signatory list at pacingthefrontier.com; however, official statements from Sam Altman or OpenAI and a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
