Romeu Zema and Renan Santos remain nearly tied for the implied third-place finish in Brazil’s October 2026 first-round presidential election because both draw from the same pool of center-right and liberal voters seeking alternatives to incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the main Bolsonaro-aligned candidate. Zema’s executive record as former Minas Gerais governor and Renan Santos’s profile as a Mission Party founder with Free Brazil Movement ties sustain comparable support levels in current polling. Ronaldo Caiado trails further back after his March PSD nomination and April resignation as Goiás governor, reflecting slower consolidation of third-way backing. Trader pricing captures the fragmented opposition landscape, where modest shifts in endorsements, regional polling, or candidate withdrawals could quickly separate the top three contenders before election day.
