Dakota County's position within Rep. Angie Craig's congressional district underpins the tight trader consensus around the August 11 Democratic primary, where her local name recognition and constituent relationships offset Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan's statewide DFL endorsement and progressive base. Craig's decision to bypass the party convention has sharpened contrasts on corporate PAC funding, healthcare policy, and Israel-related votes, while recent debates and targeted advertising have highlighted these differences without producing decisive shifts in county-level sentiment. With the primary only days away, factors such as suburban turnout patterns, early voting distribution, and any final-week mobilization in the county's key precincts could determine whether Craig secures a plurality there or if Flanagan's broader momentum narrows the gap.
