China's July 2026 CPI eased to 0.5% year-over-year—below consensus forecasts of 0.8% and down from June's 1.0%—reflecting softer food prices and moderating non-food inflation amid subdued domestic demand. This latest print has kept trader focus on the 0.5%-0.8% range for August, with the two leading brackets nearly tied as markets weigh ongoing weakness in consumption and producer prices against potential seasonal rebounds or policy support. Continued food deflation, soft retail sales, and external commodity trends sustain the close contest, while stronger industrial output, stimulus measures, or energy price shifts could widen the gap before the September 9 release.
