Recent retail egg prices, averaging $2.19 per dozen in July 2026 per BLS data, anchor trader consensus around the $2.20–$2.30 range as the leading outcome. Oversupply from post-2025 avian flu flock rebuilding has driven sharp year-over-year declines, with wholesale benchmarks falling below $1 amid expanded layer inventories and stable demand. This dynamic, coupled with modest monthly volatility in consumer prices near $2.14–$2.19, positions the $2.10–$2.40 bands as capturing the bulk of implied probability. No major new outbreaks or policy shifts have emerged to alter the trajectory, though ongoing productivity gains and seasonal factors could influence final August prints. Market-implied odds reflect aggregated capital at risk pricing these supply fundamentals over historical spikes.
