Recent frontal passage and returning marine layer are the dominant drivers of trader sentiment for San Francisco’s September 4 overnight low, with NWS guidance showing well-below-normal temperatures persisting into Friday. Onshore westerly flow and a deepening marine layer promote stratus and fog that limit radiative cooling while moderating minimums near the historical 56 °F average. Close market probabilities around 54–59 °F versus lower outliers reflect uncertainty in boundary-layer mixing, inversion strength, and residual post-frontal moisture that could either enhance or suppress the nocturnal drop. Clearing skies Friday may allow slightly greater cooling if winds remain light, but persistent on-shore advection favors the upper-50s cluster now leading implied odds.
