Argentina’s August monthly inflation print of 1.7%—the lowest since mid-2025 and in line with economist forecasts—has reinforced trader expectations for continued disinflation into September under President Milei’s fiscal austerity and monetary tightening. Year-to-date inflation stands at 21.3% with the annual rate at 33.5%, reflecting a steady downward trajectory from earlier 2026 readings near 2.1-2.3%. Market-implied odds remain tightly balanced between the 1.6-1.8% and 1.9-2.1% buckets because September outcomes hinge on seasonal food volatility, potential regulated-price resets in utilities and transport, and the pace of core price moderation amid weak domestic demand. Analysts project a September reading near 2.0%, with the October 13 release serving as the key catalyst that could shift probabilities if food or services components deviate from recent patterns.
