Traders have assigned nearly equal implied probabilities to the 82–83°F and 84–85°F bins because small variations in boundary-layer moisture, afternoon mixing depth, and residual cloud cover can shift the peak by a degree or two. Historical mid-May climatology for Central Park places the average high near 71°F, yet current conditions reflect a temporary departure from that baseline under the influence of a building Bermuda High. New forecast updates from the NWS and updated high-resolution models expected overnight will provide the next clear signal on whether the highest temperature settles in the low or mid-80s.
