Israeli military operations remain focused on consolidating control of a southern Lebanon security zone near the border, including recent strikes, demolitions, and destruction of a major Hezbollah underground complex at the Ali al-Taher ridge. These actions, along with statements from Defense Minister Israel Katz that forces will stay until Hezbollah disarms, have not extended northward. Ongoing US-brokered talks between Israel and Lebanon, delayed until October, center on sequenced withdrawal tied to Lebanese army deployment and verified disarmament, while Hezbollah leaders reject such terms. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has discussed security arrangements as a potential step toward stability, and the approaching end of the UNIFIL mandate adds pressure on border monitoring arrangements. These developments keep trader focus on southern containment rather than deeper advances.
