The September 13, 2026, Swedish regional elections will determine control of Region Skåne’s council and the subsequent selection of its board chair through coalition negotiations and internal party processes. Incumbent Carl Johan Sonesson of the Moderates and former chair Henrik Fritzon of the Social Democrats lead trader pricing due to their established roles, party standings, and the historical pattern of alternation in the post. The race remains tightly balanced around even odds because bloc alignments, voter turnout across Skåne’s districts, and potential cross-party deals introduce substantial uncertainty, while numerous lower-priced candidates reflect limited visibility absent major realignments. Key upcoming catalysts include final candidate lists, pre-election polling shifts, and post-vote bargaining that could consolidate support behind one of the frontrunners.
